The project “Dialects and Cultures in Calabria” was inspired by Vittoria Butera and comes to life thanks to Fabrizia Fiorentino and a group of international students from the University of Strasbourg. Our mission is simple and ambitious: to preserve, enhance, and transmit the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of Calabria.

Starting from the evocative areas of Reventino, Mancuso, and Lametino, we are engaged in academic research that collects testimonies and memories of this cultural treasure through a participatory format. Anyone can contribute to this digital collection, making it a real living archive.

Our project fits into a context of European and academic standards, promoting regional and minority languages and cultures. Preserving the dialectal and cultural testimonies means valuing the Calabrian identity and re-narrating it in an anti-prejudice key. In addition, we collect valuable information that would otherwise be lost, and useful for schools, universities, and scholars.
Thanks to the translation of the material into English, moreover, it will be possible to connect communities of Calabrians and academics all over the world.
